Mission: Reinforceable Observer Training
Observer training only. These are fictional practice cases for learning the data-collection procedures—not live dissertation observations.

Observer training

Observer account required

Training uses the same secure account as your schedule and live observation portal.

Asynchronous observer training

What happens here

Learn it → practice it → tell Jess what needs fixing → qualify

Complete the pieces on your own schedule. After everyone finishes, the team will meet for about 30 minutes to answer questions and review anything that was hard to score. When live data collection begins, Jess will attend the first several observations with each observer for field calibration.

Part 1 · Learn

One Observation, Two Things to Watch

You are watching the teacher-student interaction. The form is designed so you can record both measures with as few taps as possible.

1
Student behavior

If the target behavior happens at any point during the current 15-second interval, tap the red button once.

2
Teacher fidelity

Score every opportunity for the teacher behavior. If the same plan component has another opportunity later, add another score; the system timestamps each one automatically.

BEFOREKnow exactly what you are watching for

Review the student behavior definition, examples/non-examples, and the individualized teacher-fidelity targets before the observation begins.

You should not be learning the definitions while you are trying to collect data.

DURINGWatch the interaction and make quick marks

Student behavior

15-second partial interval: if the target occurs at any point in the interval, tap the red button once.

No tap= behavior did not occur
15-sec cue= a new interval started

The cue is not telling you when to look at the student. Keep observing across the whole interval.

Teacher fidelity

Each time an opportunity for a plan component occurs, score that opportunity right then. If it happens again, choose + Add another opportunity and score it again.

Implemented as Written The observable plan component occurred as defined.
Not Implemented as Written An opportunity occurred, but the component was absent or did not meet the definition.

For every opportunity: also indicate whether the desired outcome occurred — Yes, No, or Not clear. This is recorded whether the plan was implemented as written or not.

AFTERResolve anything left blank and submit
No Opportunity Use this only when the event needed to score that fidelity target never occurred during the observation.
Then submit Once submitted, your training record is saved for agreement comparison.

When another observer is present: collect independently. Do not compare or discuss scores until both people have submitted.

Part 2 · Screen Tour

Meet the Data Collection Screen

Before you practice with Nora, take a quick tour of the exact controls you’ll use during an observation.

What counts as the student target behavior?

Use the definition—not your impression of whether the student looks frustrated. These examples and non-examples are here to make the scoring boundary explicit.

Keep your eyes on the interaction. When one of these opportunities happens, make one quick fidelity selection. Desired-outcome ratings can be completed now or during the end-of-observation review.

Did it have the desired outcome on behavior? Optional now — you can finish this during review.

Student interval recording is locked. Review each teacher-fidelity opportunity, correct any implementation ratings, and rate the desired outcome for opportunities marked Implemented as Written. Your responses are saved as you make changes.

      Finish fidelity & desired-outcome ratings

For each recorded opportunity, confirm whether the plan was implemented as written. If it was implemented, choose whether the desired outcome occurred. You can also remove an accidental opportunity. When every required rating is complete, Submit Attempt will become available.

Help us improve the live form

      Nora Practice Feedback

You just tried collecting both measures at once. Tell Jess what made that easier or harder before the live observation form is finalized.

How manageable was collecting student behavior and teacher fidelity at the same time?
How easy was it to find and score a fidelity target quickly enough?
How easy was the student behavior button to use without losing track of the video?
How helpful was the 15-second cue?

      Questions for the Team Meeting

Submit anything you want Jess to prepare for the 30-minute Q&A. “No questions right now” is completely fine.

      Asynchronous training complete

      You’re done for now

Your training responses have been submitted. Jess will review the team’s practice data, feedback, and questions before the follow-up meeting.

      Next steps

Jess will review the team’s questions and data-collection feedback, make any needed form changes, then schedule a short Q&A. Once a live teacher begins, Jess will attend the first several observations with you for field calibration. Do not begin independent classroom data collection until Jess confirms that you are cleared.
